WINCHENDON - Roger W. Murray Jr., 54, of 58 Pond Street, Winchendon, died peacefully at the home of his fiancee on Monday morning, December 7th. He was born in Sacramento, California on September 19,1955 and had lived in Winchendon since 2004, after moving from Colchester, CT. Before moving to this area, Roger had been a project manager in CT. After moving here, he took courses at Mt. Wachusett Community College in Gardner. A Lakota Indian, Roger played drums and participated in area pow wows. He enjoyed hiking, reading and working with computers. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with family and friends. Roger proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. His entire family, his grandfather, father, himself, his brother, and his sons, have all served in the military. Roger was the only family member to serve in the Navy. Each of the other family members served in the Marines. Roger leaves two sons, Andrew Laegaire Murray and Nicholas Padraig Murray, both serving in the Marine Corps; a daughter, Alexandra, and his fiancee Anna Medeiros of Winchendon. A son, Rory Murray, a US Marine, was killed in the Iraq War, and a brother, Willard Murray, a U.S. Marine, were killed in action in the Vietnam War. Military funeral services will be held Friday, December 11th at 10 A.M. in Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. There are no calling hours.
