WINCHENDON - Roland H. Gauthier, 89, of Winchendon, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 27th,2007. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gertrude (Dufault) Gauthier; three daughters and a son, Theresa and her husband Franklin Sherburne of South Deerfield, MA., Gabrielle Joanne and her husband Rodney McDowell of Gardner, Darlene and her husband Arthur Field of Orange, MA. and Roland A. and his wife, Polly, of North Brookfield, MA., nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a sister, Pauline Roby of Milford, NH and several nephews and nieces. Roland is a World War Two veteran, proudly serving in the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime member and Past Commander of the Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 VFW and was a member of the Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion. He was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, serving as an usher and volunteer with St. Vincent dePaul. He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and by his friends as a good man. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 31st at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon. At his request there will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association Hospice Program, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA. 01440 or to the Winchendon EMT Ambulance Fund, PO Box 125, Winchendon, MA. 01475.
