Roland J.M. Rocheleau

WINCHENDON – Roland J.M. Rocheleau, 84, of 18 Munroe Street, died peacefully Monday morning, September 1st in Heywood Hospital, Gardner with his family at his side.

A lifelong resident of Winchendon, Roland was born on September 23, 1929, son of the late Maximin S. and Coranna M. (Hardy) Rocheleau.  He served in the United States Army and Army National Guard.

Roland worked at New England Wooden Ware for many years as its maintenance supervisor until his retirement.  He was an avid hunter, woodworker and fisherman.  Spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren gave him his greatest enjoyment.  A lover of cats and dogs, he was especially fond of his late dog “Tommy Girl.”

His wife of 55 years, Barbara A. (Waltz) Rocheleau, died in 2007.  He leaves a son, Leon W. “Butch” Rocheleau and his wife Linda of Gardner; a daughter, Rolanda Price and her husband David of Baldwinville; three daughters-in-law, Gayle Hourihan, Cindy Rocheleau and Charline Rocheleau, all of Winchendon; his brothers and sisters, Maurice S. Rocheleau of Winchendon, George S. Rocheleau of Winchendon, Anna M. Cormier of Leominster, Cecile May of Winchendon, Rita M. Elola of Winchendon and Theresa A. Thurlow of Winchendon; six grandchildren, Heather Gauthier, Christy-Sue Solomon, Roland J.M. Rocheleau 3rd, Heath Rocheleau, Mellissa Johnson, and Justin Rocheleau; three step grandchildren, Steve Clark, Cheryl Johnson and Phillip Clark;  two sisters-in-law, Carol Chenevert and Doris Gould, both of Ashburnham;  many great grandchildren, many nieces and many nephews.  In addition to his wife, Roland was predeceased by two sons, Maurice L. “Shoes” Rocheleau and Roland J.M. “Buckets” Rocheleau Jr; a grandson, Ryan Rocheleau and three brothers, Alfred F. Rocheleau, Arthur J. Rocheleau Sr and Joseph C. Rocheleau.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 6th at 11 A.M. in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon.  The Rev. F. Calvin Miller will officiate.

There are no calling hours.
