WINCHENDON – Ronald F. Lombard, 64, of 1250 Alger Street, died Wednesday, August 10 th .
He was born in Winthrop on February 1, 1947, son of the late Robert A. and Eileen (DiNatale) Lombard and had lived in Winchendon since 1988.
Ron was a graduate of Winthrop High School Class of 1965. Before living in Winchendon, Ron was a policeman for the City of Winthrop and he also held jobs at Raytheon and the Boston Kidney Center Dialysis Unit. He later worked in construction throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He helped to build and co-owned the former House of Health in Saugus from 1977 to 1980. He later operated a gravel hauling and excavation business until he became too ill to continue with it. Most recently he worked for Waste Management in Fitchburg and was the construction engineer at Perennial Patch in Winchendon.
Ron loved his children and grandchildren and loved to talk to people and help them out. He enjoyed fixing things, going to the gym, going out to eat and baking desserts to bring to people. He loved the ocean, tools of any kind, and always saw the good side of everybody. He also spent a great deal of time working out at the Wendell P. Clark YMCA in Winchendon.
Ron was a transplant survivor and loved to help at the Celebration of Life Ceremony at UMASS Medical Center, Worcester. He was always so appreciative of his physicians, especially Dr. Tricia Vorderstrasse of Gardner and Dr. Savant Mehta, Dr. Shimul Shah and Dr. Adele Borzogadeh at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester.
He leaves his life partner Ann Marie Cook, with whom he had been together for 23 years; three children, Ronald Campbell and his wife Ellen of Pelham, NH, Tracy Ann Survilas and husband Jason of Winthrop and Jason Cook of Hubbardston; a sister Carole McCarey and husband Robert of Franklin, NH; two brothers, Robert Lombard and wife Diane of Venice, FL and Fred Lombard of Punta Gorda, FL; four grandchildren, Emmanuelle Cook, Andrew Survilas, Julia Survilas and Ruby Athena Campbell, as well as nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 19 th at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Thursday, August 18 th from 5 to 8 P.M.
