WINCHENDON - Ronald J. Richard, 78, of 554 River Street, Winchendon, died Sunday evening, January 27th in the Genesis HealthCare, Keene, NH, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Gardner, MA. on March 22,1929, the son of Alban S. and Anna (Richard) Richard, and had lived in Winchendon for twelve years. Ron was a truck driver for M.G. Convoy of New York for thirty years until his retirement. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion and Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 VFW, both of Winchendon, Ovila Case Post #905 VFW in Gardner and the Otter River Sportsman's Club in Templeton. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Ron was a pilot and owned his own plane. He loved the outdoors, flying and boating. He leaves a son, Dale Richard of Jasper, FL.; a brother, Leo J. Richard of Swanzey, NH; a sister, Irene M. Martin of Winchendon; two grandchildren, Brendon and Sara Richard; his companion, Sandra Bergeron of Winchendon, with whom he lived; three nieces, Yolande Adamson and her husband Michael of Swanzey, NH, , Dianna Homoleski and her husband Bruce of Pepperell; Dawn Turski and her husband Edward of Winchendon, and a nephew, Stephen Richard and his wife Janice of NH , as well as many grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Aurele C. Richard, Rosimond Richard; Edgar "Doc Snow" Arsenault, Edmond Arsenault and Adrien "Two-Bits" Arsenault, a sister, Doris Woodward; a niece, Lisa Marie Richard and a nephew, David Martin. Military services will be held Friday, February 1st at 11 A.M. in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Francis A. Roberge, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, will officiate. There are no calling hours. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
