WINCHENDON - Rosalie M. (Boucher) Walkonen, 80, of 377 Central Street, Winchendon, died Saturday evening, August 19th in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, following an illness. She was born in Winchendon on July 22,1926, the daughter of Ernest A. and Marie R. (St.Pierre) Boucher, and was a lifelong resident. Rosalie was a graduate of Murdock High School with the Class of 1944 and received her nursing degree from Boston City Hospital School of Nursing. She was a school nurse in Winchendon for 25 years. She left nursing and returned to college and received her degree in Elementary Education, summa cum laude, in 1974 at Fitchburg State College. She continued to work in the Winchendon School system for nine years before retiring. She was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and was a member of the Gardner Golden Agers and AARP, also in Gardner. Rosalie leaves her husband of 48 years, Raymond H. Walkonen and a cousin, William Daley. She was predeceased by a son, James Raymond Walkonen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 23rd from the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. A calling hour will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M.
