HOLDEN – Ruth H. (Fleming) Wallace, 91, of 39 Mark Bradford Drive, Holden, formerly of Winchendon, died peacefully Thursday morning, October 8th in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner.
She was born in Worcester, MA on July 31, 1924, daughter of the late James and Eleanor (McQuiggan) Fleming. She grew up in North Grafton. She lived in Winchendon most of her adult life until moving to Holden 13 years ago.
Ruth was a 1941 graduate of Grafton High School. She also graduated from Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene in 1944. She had worked as a dental hygienist for many years until her retirement in 1985. Ruth loved the outdoors and had enjoyed playing golf, reading mystery novels, walking and cross country skiing. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
Her husband, Robert R. Wallace, died in 1986, and her son, Robert R. Wallace Jr., died in 2000. She leaves a son, William G. Wallace and his wife Diana E. of Holden; three grandchildren, Katherine Dunlap, Lauren Brockmyer and Lindsey Wallace and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and son, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Rosalie Hodgerney, Loretta Sydney and Jackie Glispin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 14th at 11 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Calling hours in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Wednesday, October 14th from 9:30 to 10:30 preceding the mass.
