WINCHENDON - Shirley J. (Erickson) Hackett, 73, of 367 Central Street, Winchendon, died Wednesday, October 29th, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Templeton on July 1,1935, the daughter of Gunnar and Gladys (Bacon) Erickson and graduated from the former Templeton High School in 1953. She had lived in Winchendon for many years. Shirley was a Teacher's Aide in the Winchendon Public School System for over twenty years until her retirement. She was a member of the United Parish Church and former member of the Winchendon Womens Club and Wendell P.Clark Memorial YMCA . For over twenty years she was an Avon Representative and she was a current member of its Honor Society. For many years, Shirley was one of the top sellers in this area. Shirley enjoyed golfing, reading, crossword puzzles and collecting Santa memorabilia. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family. Her husband of 53 years, Harold P. Hackett, Jr., died on July 27th of this year. She leaves five children, Kathy A. Blouin and her husband Tim of Winchendon, David P. Hackett and his fiancee Debbie Spaulding of St. Catherine, Ontario, Susan E. Poikonen and her husband Eric of Rindge, NH, Peter E. Hackett and his wife Lisa of Virginia Beach, VA. and Karen M. Hackett and her companion Ken LaFond of Winchendon; two grandchildren, Emily Poikonen and Sarah Poikonen; two brothers, Herbert Erickson and his wife Barbara of Charlotte, NC and Keith Erickson and his wife Patricia of Athol; four sisters, Dorothy Cormier and her husband Robert of Gardner, Ruby Dembeck and her husband Victor of Templeton, Sandra LeBlanc and her husband Timothy of Gardner and Beverly Chase and her husband David of Baldwinville; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Raymond and Phyllis Watt of Templeton, a sister-in-law, Jane Erickson of Leominster and many nephews and nieces. A brother, Gordon Erickson, predeceased her. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 3rd at 1 P.M. in the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Jackson L. Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon. Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday, November 2nd from 1 to 3 P.M.
