WINCHENDON – Sidney A. Murdock, 79, of 28 Poplar Street, died peacefully Friday afternoon, September 25th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester.
He was born in Templeton on June 10, 1936, son of the late Frank and Lillian (Wyman) Murdock and was a graduate of the former Templeton High School. He had been a resident of Winchendon for many years.
Sid worked for 48 years as a woodworker at the former Temple Stuart Furniture Company and later worked for four years at Saloom Furniture Company until his retirement. Sid proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and received the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion. An avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, Sid especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was fond of his late dog Buckwheat and his cat Chloe.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Christine C. (Couture) Murdock; four children, Brenda Murdock of Rindge, NH, Sharon Marland of Gardner, Edward Murdock of Winchendon and Anne Murdock of Baldwinville; a sister, Nancy Desmond of Ft. Pierce, FL; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Thelma Bisbee, Louise Whitney, Ethel Lirette and Florence Murdock.
Private military funeral services will be held in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
