ORANGE - Sidney N. Fletcher, Jr., 90, formerly of 105 Wheeler Avenue, Orange, died Monday, March 27th in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner following an illness. His wife of 13 years, Martha (McCarthy) James Fletcher, died last year. His first wife of 50 years, Jeanne C. (Kozlowski) Fletcher, died in 1988. He was born in Winchendon on November 10,1915, the son of Sidney N. Fletcher, Sr. and Bertha (Howe) Fletcher and had resided in Orange for 41 years before moving to the nursing home two years ago. Sidney was a graduate of Murdock High School in Winchendon with the class of 1933 and Colgate University in 1937. He began his banking career at the First National Bank in Winchendon. After serving in the Merchant Marines during World War Two, he returned to Winchendon to become Vice President and Treasurer of the Winchendon Savings Bank. In 1964, he became President of the Orange Savings Bank, where he served until his retirement. Sidney was a Past President of the Winchendon Kiwanis Club and was a former member of the Orange Kiwanis Club. He was a former member of the Executive Committee of the Monadnock Council, Boy Scouts of America. He is survived by two nieces, daughters of his late brother, Robert W. Fletcher, Alice Norcross Fletcher Rixmann of Bella Vista, AR and Elizabeth Helen Fletcher Matera of Wellesley. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, April 1st at 11 A.M. in Riverside Cemetery, Glenallen Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Jennie A. Barrington of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Winchendon, will officiate. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home Residents' Activities Fund, 32 Hospital Hill Road, Gardner, MA. 01440.
