WINCHENDON - Stella M. (Cieslak) Mellen, 91, formerly of 542 Central Street, Winchendon, died peacefully Friday evening, February 6th in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, She was born in Manchester, N.H. on June 9,1917, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Wojcicki) Cieslak and had lived in Winchendon for most of her life. Stella was custodial engineer in the Winchendon School System for 23 years until her retirement. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post 2158 VFW Auxiliary. Her husband of 39 years, Harry Q. Mellen, died in 1985. She leaves a son, Thomas F. Mellen of Marana, AZ, a granddaughter, Kristina R. Casavant of Winchendon and her caregiver Kelly A. Casavant of Westford, as well as nephews and nieces. A son, Richard H. Mellen; two brothers, Frank Cieslak and Angelo Cieslak, and a sister, Beatrice Cieslak, predeceased her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 14th at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street. Calling hours in the Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon are Saturday, February 14th from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
