Stella (Moss) Rose

ASHBURNHAM, MA - Stella (Moss) Rose, 93, of 79 Ferin Road, Ashburnham, formerly of Bridgeport, CT, died Friday evening, August 13th at her residence. She was born in Stamford, CT on May 3, 1917, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Tessie (Zartolas) Moss, grew up in Bridgeport, CT and graduated from Bassick High School in Bridgeport. She had lived in Ashburnham since 1994, when she moved from Munroe, CT. Stella was a former school teacher in Bridgeport and was an avid painter, seamstress, adventurer and storyteller. Her husband, Elliott Rose, who died in 1970, served in United States Navy for many years. While her husband was on active duty, Stella lived in Japan, Italy, Hawaii, California and Washington. A medical secretary, she had worked for the Atomic Energy Commission and Chemical War Fare. Stella was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. She leaves her only child, Patricia D. Lubelczyk, with whom she lived; three grandchildren, Melanie Cruz, Brian Lubelczyk and Dr. Jaime Lubelczyk and three great grandchildren, Diego Cruz, Anastelli Cruz and Xavier Cruz. A brother, Peter Moss and a sister, Diane Levesque, predeceased her. Funeral services and burial will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. There are no calling hours.
