TEMPLETON – Stephen E. Salame, 74, of 9 Henshaw Road, died peacefully Wednesday evening, October 14, 2015 in UMASS Memorial Hospital, Worcester, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Gardner on June 21, 1941, son of the late Edward and Hazel (Lund) Salame.  A lifelong resident of Templeton, he attended Narragansett Regional High School with the class of 1960.  Since the age of 16, he worked as a welder in a family owned business, Travers Welding, until 1991.

Stephen was a lifelong member of Otter River Sportsman’s Club, as well as a member of the Templeton Sportsman’s Club.  He served the community as a LT. on the Templeton Fire Department for 15 years and was an integral part of the Templeton Craft Fair, started 23 years ago by his late wife Gladys (Couillard) Salame.  An avid sportsman, he hunted and fished in all New England States as well as Ontario, Quabbin Reservoir and Allagash.  Stephen was also a gentleman farmer and wine maker.

He will be remembered as a very kind hearted giving individual, who would help anyone in need.

He leaves a son, Stephen E. Salame II and his wife Tina of Templeton; three grandchildren, Anthony Salame and his wife Jennifer of Hamden, CT, Tabitha Salame and Shayne Salame of Gardner, and two great grandchildren, Jaxon and Weston of Hamden, CT.  He also leaves a brother, Michael Salame and his fiancé Elaine Smith of Gardner, a sister Donna Lorman of Templeton, a brother Wayne Salam and his wife Kathleen of Baldwinville, a brother George Salame and his wife Theresa of Lancaster; his long-time companion Carlene Kemp of Templeton, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Monday, October 19th at 10 A.M. in The First Church of Templeton, Templeton Common.  Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

There are no calling hours.
