GARDNER – Stephen G. Collins, 58, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 25th at Heywood Hospital, Gardner, due to complications from cancer.
He was born on November 28, 1954, the son of the late Norman and Frances (Haggerstrom) Collins. He is survived by his wife, Cathy (Hicks) Collins; his former wife, Cynthia Collins and their son Cody of Townsend; his two sisters, Harriet Place of Bourne, MA and Susan Sturrock of Nashua, NH. He also leaves a stepson, Jesse Hicks, his wife Jessica and their two children Ian and Veda; his mother-in-law Marilyn Hicks and his father-in-law Raymond Hicks and wife Gertrude.
Steve was the best mechanic you ever met and worked at various garages and dealerships in this area. He loved to hunt, fish, go camping and his favorite place to be was Dover-Foxcroft, Maine at Sebec Lake, where his wonderful aunt, Marion Smith, resides. He had wonderful memories of this area.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 12th at 1 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. Family and friends are welcome to attend and share in their memories of him.
Donations in his memory can be made to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or to Townsend Fire Dept, where his son Cody is a volunteer fireman.
