Stephen S. Rekas

TEMPLETON – Stephen S. Rekas, 77, of 23 Pine Drive, Otter River, died peacefully Monday morning, May 31, 2021 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.

He was born in West Warwick, RI on December 26, 1943, son of the late Stanley A. and Mary H. (Baczenski) Rekas and graduated in 1962 from Carver High School in California.  Steve was a resident of Otter River for many years.

Steve worked at Harrington and Richardson for over 40 years until his retirement.  He had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy.  His hobbies included fly fishing, blueberry picking, gardening and collecting guns.  Steve treasured spending time with his family.

His wife of 43 years, Lillian T. (Duvarney) Rekas, died in 2010.  He leaves four children, Stephen M. Rekas and his wife Debbie of Troy, NH, Scott D. Rekas and his wife Mariaelena of Jaffrey, NH, Kimberly M. Rekas and her significant other Bruce of FL and Kristen A. Rekas and her husband Todd Guy of Otter River; grandchildren, Ashley, Terrence, Jason, Zachary and Kayla; two stepgrandchildren, Armando and Dsai; one great grandson Brady; six step great grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis McGinnis of Jaffrey, NH and Cynthia McArdle.of Quincy, MA.  .A brother, Ronald Rekas of Chelsea, MA, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 1 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.  A calling hour will precede the service from 12 to 1 P.M.

Burial, with military honors, will be in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
