GARDNER – Susan P. (Fuller) Caswell, 63, of 417 West Street, Gardner died Wednesday afternoon, October 2nd, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester.
She was born in Gardner on April 27, 1950, daughter of the late Alvin and Eunice (Percy) Fuller. She graduated from Murdock High School and Burbank Hospital School of Nursing, Fitchburg.
Susan was a licensed practical nurse and worked for many years at Heywood Hospital until her retirement. For eleven years she worked in its emergency room and then worked for 15 years on the floor. Susan was active in civic endeavors, being a co-founder of the Chair City Cloggers and a former Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed playing the guitar, skiing and bowling. A member of the Royal Cadets, she played her bugle at funerals. She would run a Bingo bus to Foxwoods every other month. Susan regularly attended shows at Theatre at the Mount. She also took her Aunt Gloria Olivieri and other friends to the movies each week. Susan enjoyed canning, watching her favorite TV shows, Grey’s Anatomy and Pretty Little Liars, and spending time at her swimming pool. Christmas was an important time to her and her house was one of the best decorated homes in Gardner each holiday season. She and her husband attended Holy Cross Church, East Templeton. Above all, spending time with her family was the most important thing to her.
She leaves her husband of 40 years, David H. Caswell; two children, Raileen L. Caswell and Craig A. Caswell, both of Gardner; two grandchildren, Zackery Connors and Xander Carignan; a brother, William Fuller and his wife Susan of Baldwinville; a sister, Elaine Soderman of Gardner, as well as nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Gary Fuller and Richard Fuller, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 7th at 11 AM in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Joseph Jurgelonis will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday, October 6th from 5 to 8 P.M.
