ASHBURNHAM – Sylvia Thyra (Johnson) (Hogan) Ainsleigh, age 86, of Ashburnham, MA, died February 3rd, 2021.

She is survived by a son Peter M. Hogan (Ashburnham), son-in-law, Christopher Goulston (Florida), and daughter-in-law Carolyn Hogan (Oxford, Maine). She also leaves a brother, Stewart E. Johnson (Robin, Palmer), several nieces, nephews, stepchildren (spouses), grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was pre-deceased by her husband George L. Ainsleigh, son Andrew J. Hogan, daughter Paula M (Hogan) Goulston, and brother David E Johnson.

Sylvia was born in Ware MA on August 18, 1934 to the late Ernest H. and Dorothy (Stewart) Johnson. She grew up in Palmer, graduating from Palmer High School in 1952. She attended Framingham State University, and Quinsigamond and Mt. Wachusett Community Colleges. She lived in Northborough from 1961 to 1987, then in Ashburnham.

She worked for the New England Telephone and Telephone Company and Northborough and Southborough Public Schools. In her retirement, she worked part-time for many years as Secretary/Administration Assistant at the Ashburnham Community Church.

She enjoyed camping all over the eastern US & Canada, quilting. knitting, reading, doing crossword puzzles, cooking and gardening. She loved living on the lake in the forest with all the wildlife to enjoy.

At Sylvia’s request and due to Covid resrictions, there will be no immediate calling hours or services. Burial will be private for the family and held at their convenience.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sylvia’s name to the Ashburnham Community Church, PO Box 929, Ashburnham  MA 01430, or the Second Baptist Church, Thorndike Street, Palmer MA 01069.
