GARDNER - Vernon Miles, 73, of 71 Lake Street, Gardner, died peacefully Monday, February 7 th in University of Massachusetts Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester.

He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 18, 1937, son of the late Edmund and Catherine Miles and had lived in Gardner for five years.

Vernon spent most of his life in Leominster, where he owned and operated the former Miles Motors and Miles Panel Shop for many years. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He enjoyed ice racing and stock car racing and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie (Wittman) Miles. He leaves three children, Vernon Miles 2 nd of Leominster, Carol A. Carbonneau of Lowell and Janet L. Lavallee and her husband Joseph of Gardner, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Military funeral services will be held Friday, February 18 th at 9 A.M. in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. There are no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street #501, Boston, MA 02210-1258.
