BALDWINVILLE – Virginia M. (Thompson) Herr, 92, of 99 Bridge Street, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, July 2nd in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner.
She was born in Winchendon on April 12, 1923, daughter of the late James E. and Lillian V. (Moriarty) Thompson and had lived in Baldwinville since 1989 after returning to this area.
Virginia had lived in Vero Beach, FL, where she operated a beauty salon. She and her husband had also operated a store and gas station as well as a car agency and trucking business. She later lived in Barnstead, NH and New York, where she owned a dairy farm, before moving to Baldwinville. She was past president of VFW Auxiliary.
Her husband, William L. Herr, died in 1995. She leaves a daughter, Sharron Hamilton and her husband Robert, of Ellenton, FL as well as three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A son, William E. Herr, died in 2010. Two sisters also preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
