BEVERLY HILLS, FL - Wayne L. Standley, 65, of 13 North Lee Street, formerly of Haverhill, Dracut, Methuen and Lowell, died peacefully, January 20, 2017 in Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, TN, with his family at his side.
He was born in Worcester, MA on July 3, 1951, son of the late Warren K. and Agnes K. (Bagley) Standley and grew up in Haverhill, MA. Wayne was a 1969 graduate of Haverhill High School. and later graduated in 1982 from Lawrence Technical High School LPN program. While growing up in Haverhill, Wayne was a member of John Greenleaf Whittier Chapter Order of DeMolay and served as a Master Councilor.
Wayne proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, serving four years from 1975 to 1979.
Wayne was actively involved in church, little league and with the Dracut Band Boosters. He was a lifelong fan of New England professional sports teams and enjoyed hosting game parties at his home, which included a game of 45's. He was also an avid fan of Harry Potter and Lord of Rings movies and books.
Wayne worked as a licensed practical nurse for various nursing homes and agencies in the Merrimack Valley before working at Edith Nourse Bedford Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford, MA for several years. He retired two years ago.. He took his masonic degrees at Merrimac Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Haverhill and affiliated to Pentucket Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Lowell, where he served as Lodge Master from 2006 to 2008.
He leaves his wife of 44 years Ann E. (Carr) Standley; two sons Wayne L. Standley Jr and his wife Lee-Ann of Tyngsboro, MA and Jason Standley Sr and his fiancé Kimberly Barnett of Greenville, TN; a brother Gary F. Standley of Fitchburg; his sister Cynthia K. Futch and her family of Sanford, ME; four grandchildren, Lolli Standley, Lucas St. Louis, Jason Standley Jr and Livia St. Louis, as well as 14 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews..
Calling hours will be held Friday, April 7, 2017 from 12 to 2 PM followed by a Masonic Funeral Service at 2 PM in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
Memorial donations may be made to Lowell Chapter Order of DeMolay or Dracut Band Boosters.
