WINCHENDON – Wilfred D. Guy Jr, 86, of 45 East Street, Winchendon died peacefully Friday afternoon, June 29th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
He was born in Winchendon on August 15, 1925, son of the late Wilfred D. and Mary Bella (Latuch) Guy and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon.
Wilfred was an assembler in the furniture business, working for many years at Winchendon Furniture and M.H. Parks Furniture Co until his retirement. He joined the service at the age of 17 and proudly served overseas in the United States Army during World War Two. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with 3 service stars. Wilfred was a member and Past Commander of Lt. Frederick Wilder White Post #2158 VFW. His hobbies included gardening, reading, jigsaw puzzles and traveling.
He leaves his wife, Phyllis L.(Donaway) Guy, with whom he celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Friday; a daughter, Lauri A. Guy of Winchendon; two sisters, Mary E. Chagnon of Winchendon and Elvera Mitchell of Cranston, RI and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Bertram W. Arens, Bernice M. Kushmick, Lillian A. St. Laurent and Alfred Guy.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 3rd at 10 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. The Rev. Francis A. Roberge will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Monday, July 2nd from 6 to 8 P.M.
