WINCHENDON:  William E. Klockars, 64, of 23 Cummings Road, died unexpectedly Monday, November 25th, at his residence.

He was born in Gardner on March 8, 1949, son of the late George and June (Rhoades) Klockars and was a resident of Gardner until moving to Winchendon in 1981.  In 1967, Bill graduated from Gardner High School and later graduated from East Coast Aero Tech.

Bill was a firefighter and mechanic with the Gardner Fire Department from 1974 to 2003.  Most recently, Bill worked at Smith’s Country Cheese on a part time basis.  He was a member and past president of Firefighters Union#2215.  Bill proudly served his country as a member of United States Navy from 1969 to 1973.  During that time, Bill made two tours of Antarctica.  Locally, Bill was very involved with the Winchendon Little League, serving as its secretary for many years.

Bill was a life member of Hubbardston Rod and Gun Club and a member of Eugene M. Connor Post 193 American Legion.  An avid outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling and gardening.  Bill could fix anything and had made go carts and Pinewood Derby cars with his grandson.  As his daughters were growing up, Bill served as a softball coach.

He leaves his wife of 39 years, June E. (LaFontaine) Klockars; two daughters, Kimberly A. LaPointe and her husband Christopher of Winchendon and Lisa M. Klockars-Carter and her husband Lee of Rutland; two grandchildren, Tyler Klockars and Ellayna LaPointe; a brother, Randy P. Klockars of Gardner as well as nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 29th at 1 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.  The Rev. David R. Cote will officiate.  Burial, with military honors, will follow in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.

Calling hours in the funeral home are 11 AM to 1 PM Friday preceding the funeral service.
