TEMPLETON – William R. Putnam, 78 of Baldwinville, died peacefully Monday evening, November 8, 2021 in UMASS Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester.
He was born in Gardner on February 24, 1943, son of the late William D. and Daisy B. (Progen) Putnam and was a lifelong resident of Templeton. Bill was a 1961 graduate of Narragansett Regional High School.
Bill owned, operated and sold used cars for 56 years. He had owned Putnam Chevrolet Buick, Putnam-Feldman Chevrolet Buick and most recently Bill’s Used Cars of Baldwinville. Additionally, he owned MBW Salvage of Baldwinville. Bill’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and used cars.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Hope E. (Gordon) Putnam; three children, Marie Elias and her husband Stewart of Rutland, William D. Putnam and his wife Pauline of Gardner and Wendy Benbenek and her husband Stephen of Baldwinville; three grandchildren, Chloe, Dalton and Thomas, as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Patricia A. Putnam, who died at birth and a brother, Dana G. Putnam.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. Services will be streamed and may be viewed at: https://webcasts.lifetributes.com/1174741
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Templeton.
