GARDNER – W. Reed Boynton, 76, of Gardner, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 18, 2022 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner with his family at his side.
He was born in Gardner on August 4, 1945, son of the late Walter F. and Virginia L. (Reed) Boynton and was a resident of Gardner for most of his life. He was a graduate of Narragansett Regional High School and had served in the Army Reserves for 6 years.
Reed had worked as a printer, printing consultant and press room supervisor for RR Donnelley for 15 years and AGFA, covering the territory of the United States, Canada and Mexico, for 16 years until his retirement. In earlier years he had worked as a linotype operator for the Worcester Telegram and Heffernan Press. He traveled across the country with his wife. They also traveled to Hawaii and Belgium. Reed and his wife Claudia visited 34 National Parks. Reed also enjoyed fishing, downhill skiing, hiking and swimming. He was a member of Gardner Camera Club and Baldwinville Congregational Church.
He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 56 years, Claudia (Ringuette) Boynton; a daughter, Crystal L. Boucher and husband Jay of Gardner; a grandson Max Boucher; a sister, Linda Glancey and her husband Leon Gaidanowicz of Hubbardston; his best friend and brother in law, Louis Ringuette and his wife Sharon of Gardner as well as several nieces and nephews.
Reed was an avid gardener, proud of his annual harvest, especially his tomatoes and giant sunflowers. He loved fishing with his buddy, Louie, and even through the catch might have been small, the joy of the sport made him happy. Reed was one of a kind: warm, friendly and generous, with a wonderful sense of humor. He had a big heart. He will be sorely missed by those, who knew him, especially those who quietly reaped the benefits of his kindness. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved them deeply. He was especially proud of his grandson, Max.
