WINCHENDON – Zaira (Diamantini) Tontini, 88, of 26 Academy Street, Winchendon, died peacefully Friday morning, April 1 st , in Brockton Hospital.
She was born in Fano, Italy on November 8, 1922, the daughter of the late Dimentrio and Galista (Mangoni) Diamantini, and had lived in Winchendon since 1949.
Zaira worked as a cook for 38 years at the former Casa Giardini Restaurant until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. She was an avid gardener and found her greatest enjoyment from spending time with her family.
Her husband of 64 years, Dino E. Tontini, died in 2010. She leaves two children, Anna B. O’Brien and her husband William of Mansfield and Paul B. Tontini of Winchendon; two grandchildren, Melissa O’Brien and Andrew O’Brien, as well as several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 5th from Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday, April 4 th from 6 to 8 P.M.
